The name String given to this foundation means "to lead children through the difficulties of their lives and to connect them with others so that they do not feel abandoned. It symbolizes an imaginary uneasy life journey of abandoned children in search for happiness (open arms of a close human being).

The String Foundation started its activity in spring 2006 with the aim of offering all-round help and support to abandoned children in infant and children's homes, thereby reducing the impact of the emotional deprivation on children's psych­ical development. The foundation tries, by a simple human contact, to make children as independent as possible, to give a meaning to their lives and to help them integrate into the society.
